Kohl’s and Target stores will be hiring for the holidays, with Kohl’s boosting its seasonal employment and Target staying roughly even with last year.
Kohl’s, based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., said it will increase its holiday hiring nationally by more than 10 percent from last year to more than 52,700 jobs.
Hiring levels at specific stores will vary depending on their business needs, but Kohl’s expects to hire an average of 41 associates per store, the company said. Kohl’s has 1,146 stores in 49 states.
Seasonal associates can work from a few hours to more than 20 hours per week, and jobs include cashiers, stocking positions and jobs uploading trucks and in freight processing and credit operations.
Hiring began last month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November, Kohl’s said.
Target, headquartered in Minneapolis, said it will hire 80,000 to 90,000 nationally to staff its stores and distribution centers for the holidays. Target hired more than 92,000 seasonal workers in each of the past two years.
