Officials from W.W. Grainger Inc. announced Thursday the company will expand its downtown office, bringing as many as 300 new jobs over the next several years.
This fall, Grainger plans to increase its occupancy in the Citigroup Center at 500 W. Madison to the 33rd floor, according to a statement from the Mayor’s office. This will support the company’s expected addition of about 300 new IT and eCommerce hires over the next several years.
Headquartered in Lake Forest, Grainger is a supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products serving businesses and institutions. It began as a motor sales and distribution business in Chicago in 1927, and today has 715 branches and 29 distribution centers worldwide, with more than 1 million products available.
“Expanding our Chicago office enables us to attract the best talent to build upon and enhance our eCommerce platform,” CEO Jim Ryan said in the statement.
