Gordmans to open Valparaiso store

VALPARAISO — Gordmans, a Nebraska-based apparel and home decor retailer, will open a 50,000-square-foot store on Thursday at Porter’s Vale Shopping Center, 710 Porter’s Vale Blvd., near Indiana 49 and Indiana 2.
Gordmans will celebrate the store’s opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 4.
Including two additional stores also scheduled to open in September, the retailer will operate 93 stores in 54 markets and 19 states. The Valparaiso location marks Gordmans’ seventh store in Indiana.
Grand opening festivities take place Oct. 4-6. Special promotions include drawings for gift cards worth $25, $50 and $100. The store features a children’s theater and a sports-themed television viewing area.
Jeff Gordman, company president and CEO, on Oct. 4 will present a check for $2,500 to Valparaiso Community Schools to launch the retailer’s Partners in Education fundraising events. The new Gordmans store has selected Parkview Elementary School as its partner school.
