Internet gambling off to good start in New Jersey

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey casino regulators say the state’s first week of Internet gambling went well.

Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck says he’s “pleasantly pleased” with how things went

Since a test of online betting began Nov. 21, gamblers created more than 37,000 accounts with Atlantic City casinos, enabling them to gamble online.

It’s not immediately clear how many of them actually did gamble, and some users have opened more than one account.

The first revenue reports for online gambling are due out in January.

New Jersey is the third state to offer Internet gambling, after Nevada and Delaware.
