MUNSTER — Three Floyds Brewing Co. announced Friday that it will release details March 19 on how to get tickets for the Dark Lord Day beer festival, a highlight for local craft beer fans.
Tickets to the April 30 event will be $10 and will be sold through an online ticket broker on the company blog, Facebook page and Twitter account.
The Dark Lord Day beer festival is a one-day event in celebration of the release of Three Floyds’ Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout. Dark Lord Day has been celebrated since 2004, but the crowds have grown exponentially since 2007.
The biggest change this year for Dark Lord Day is that a ticket will be necessary for admission. Police will enforce a no-loitering policy in the industrial park around the brewery, according to Three Floyds.
Another change is that there will be three time options for bottle sales of Dark Lord.
“I think it will help relieve the lines,” said Schererville resident Bob Lusin, who has gone to the Dark Lord Day beer festival since 2008 when tickets were not sold and craft beer aficionados had to wait in line. “I think the ticket system is better because you are guaranteed Dark Lord.”
Three Floyds started selling tickets in 2009 that guaranteed a certain amount of bottles of Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout. Last year tickets sold out in under an hour and crashed the online seller of the tickets. The crowd in 2010 was the biggest yet.
Although there were about 10,000 people at last year’s Dark Lord day, Lusin thought it was not too bad. “It was a cool crowd of beer geeks and home brewers.”
Three Floyds is still tight-lipped about other details regarding the Dark Lord Day beer festival.
