CROWN POINT — Mayor Dave Uran told the Board of Public Works and Safety Jan. 25 that Police Chief Pete Land has completed interviews and promotion procedures and has submitted recommendations for promotion within the Police Department.
Since the list includes personal information the board was asked to accept the chief’s recommendations without providing details publicly. New Board member Randy Palmateer made the motion to accept Land’s recommendations. The board voted unanimously to accept the list.
Uran said that the officers would be brought up at the Feb. 8 board meeting.
“I intend to fill both of the sergeant positions that opened up with (two recent) retirements,” Land said.
In other business, the board set the costs of meals for the St. Patrick’s day corned beef-and-cabbage dinner that will be served at the Crown Point fire station. Adult dinners will be $10, senior citzens’ $9, and childrens’ $4. Organizers encourage advance ticket purchases. For more information, call 662-3290 or 662-3240.
