Assistant Crown Point Chief of Police Jim Janda wants everyone to have a safe and fun shopping season. All of our area officers agree. Safety tips for the holidays: Please keep your valuables inside the trunk while shopping. It is best to not keep valuables in your vehicle. Always lock your vehicle doors and park in well-lit areas. Always shop with another person or group when you can, and be wary of your surroundings. Keep your cell phone handy when walking through a parking lot. If you are having items shipped to your residence try to make arrangements for a friend or neighbor to watch for the delivery to keep from having packages sitting on the front porch for any extended time.
