WINFIELD — While it seemed strange that the Lakes of the Four Seasons Property Owners Association was required to come before the Winfield Plan Commission for anything, in this case it was not. The POA’s property at 8406 123rd Ave. is inside the town boundaries.
T-Mobile requested and received approval on Dec. 13 for changes and improvements to that location. Any work being done to an existing communication facility must receive approval from the Plan Commission, per the town code.
T-Mobile will be taking down one pole with six antennas on it and replacing it with another single pole with nine antennas attached.
A new box will be mounted at the base on the same concrete pad, and reinforcement will be made to the tower for this load.
Plan Commission member Joe Gacsy asked how tall the new tower will be. He was told the same 180 feet as the current poll.
Gacsy and Town Councilman Don Samburg seemed concerned that if it would be taller it would be in the way of the Canadian Geese migration route. They were assured that it would not.
