Feb. 9: Ann Fletcher
February 13 is Ash Wednesday. Get ready for fish fry season. While there will be lots more coming, the one notice I have received came from my husband Dennis Conley. The Knights of Columbus will hold their first 2013 Lenten Fish Fry from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church, 509 W. Division Road near Lake Eliza. The second one is 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7667 E. 109th Ave., Winfield. The cooking is all being done by the Knights of Columbus from Lowell. Hopefully all the other “not-for-profit” fish fries will send me their information at least two weeks in advance so they can get into the Scratching Post.

February 22 is the last day for kids to submit St. Patrick’s Day Parade logo designs. Speaking of St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Crown Point is strange. Who ever heard of a St. Patrick’s Day Parade without politicians? It just doesn’t seem Irish. Oh sigh!
