The Lake County Sheriff’s Animal Adoption and Control Center in Crown Point hosted a “baby shower” recently for beagle Brownie and her seven puppies. Attendees brought food, towels, cleaning supplies and monetary donations.
Brownie was saved from a situation in which she was only allowed to live outside and was used over and over for breeding. The shelter had already found a permanent home, and the shower introduced her purebred beagles to potential adopters.
Children at the shower had fun playing with the puppies and had their hearts sets on adopting one, according to shelter staff.
The center is at 3011 W. 93rd Ave. Call 769-7016 for information on pets available for adoption.
