The Crown Point Fire-Rescue Canine Unit is getting ready for K-9 Jake’s arrival and need some help. They need to build some agility equipment. They need lumber, hardware, barrels and other items. When Interstate 65 was built, 129th Avenue was cut in two, dead-ending on either side of the interstate. The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, who own the hospitals and St. Francis University, have committed to building a bridge connecting the east and west sides of 129th Avenue in the future. It will be a more direct route from their University Campus in Crown Point, teaches nursing and other medical disciplines, to St. Anthony hospital. Just for you to consider, with the suggestions that road closures for the new Illiana Expressway/toll road would not be detrimental. I have been told that 129th Avenue had been used for years for kids that were at Crown Point High School to get back out to the farms on the east side of I-65. If it had been a group of profit-motivated business people with short-range goals instead of the sisters that plan for 50 to 100 years out, the University and Franciscan Point might have not built there at all without that connector road.
Easter will be here before you know it. Just three weeks until Holy Thursday, March 28, and the start of the Triduum.
