Crown Point St. Patrick’s Day celebration schedule

Corned beef and cabbage dinner: 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 17, Crown Point Fire Rescue Department, 126 N. East St.; $10 advance purchase ($9 seniors) through March 16 at the Mayor’s Office of Special Events Office, 11065 Broadway, Suite F, or by calling the Parks Department at 661-2271 (credit card fee applied). Kid’s meal of hot dog, cookie, chips and drink, $4.

St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser: 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, small bay of Crown Point Fire Rescue Department, 126 N. East St. Participants collect donation pledges and have their heads shaved to display solidarity with kids who have cancer; interested participants or donors should visit www.stbaldricks.org and type in venue “Crown Point Fire Department” to be directed to the registration page. Fifth annual nighttime St. Patrick’s Day Parade: dusk, from Solon Robinson School west on Wells Street and north on Main Street to the square, featuring emergency vehicles, lit entries, Band of Brothers Pipes and Drums, Lake County Pipes and Drums, Grand Marshall Mayor David D. F. Uran, the Junior Grand Marshall Event Logo Contest Winner and more.

Courthouse square: Food, souvenirs and Irish-related items from 3 p.m. to the parade start at dusk.

Traffic Notice: East Street from North to Clark streets will be closed all day starting at 9 a.m. Handicap parking will be available at the Clark Street entrance into the Police Department with proper identification. To-go dinner orders can be picked up through the Clark Street entrance into the Police Department.The intersections of South and Main streets and Court and South streets and a portion of Wells Street will be closed for a short duration during the parade. The downtown square closes to traffic at 12 p.m. No parking will be permitted.
