CROWN POINT — Greg Valenti of Valenti Construction plans to build a 12,000-plus-square-foot office building on the southwest corner of Broadway. He received site development plan approval on March 11 from the city Plan Commission.
Representing Valenti was Doug Homeier of S&H Engineers. Greg Valenti’s son Vincent Valenti was also at the meeting.
In addition to the plans for the building, Homeier provided the Plan Commission with color of the roof and brick and window trims. This building is in the Williamsburg design district along Broadway.
Commissioner Dan Rohaley said, “The architectural look is right on except for the sign. It has to have more Williamsburg-era style to it.”
Rohaley also told Homeier that the address should go on the top of the sign.
Rohaley’s other problem was that the parking lot stalls are encroach on the required set-back. The set-back rules include to the parking lot.
City Councilman Bill Feder also had the provision added that all the lights in the parking lot be shielded from Broadway. He also would have preferred the use of LED lights in the original design.
The Board of Zoning Appeals will review the size and type of sign on March 25.
When discussing the color of the brick, Vincent Valenti said that the color is “clay.”
