Camden Michael Knezevich, son of Crystal Coy and Daniel Knezevich of Cedar Lake, was born on March 21 at 6:52 p.m. Camden is 7 pounds and 9 ounces and 19 and ½ inches long. Congratulations to mom and dad.
Congratulations go to Michelle Ross. She had been chosen to be part of Echo 10 at the University of Notre Dame . She will be working within a designated parish and at the same time be working on her Masters Degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame. Congratulations to Michelle and also to her parents, Allan and Chris Ross and her home parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield.
Alex Borowski was at the Star office helping his father Wayne move old paper into the recycling bins at church. Thanks Alex, and Happy Birthday.
Dan Lee will be leaving the Lowell Police Department and becoming part of the Crown Point Police Department. There was a party for him at Buddy & Pals in Crown Point to mark the transition that was held on March 22. He will be replacing a CP cop who is retiring, former K-9 Officer Chuck Sprague.
Congratulations to the CPPD. They had 127 applicants send in requests for consideration of employment as Crown Point police officers. Next step they all have to take the agility test. Failure of any element is good-bye. Those that pass are allowed to sign up for the written test. Officer Lee was the last man from the previous higher list, which is why an all-new testing period had to begin.

The Crown Point Fire-Rescue Canine Unit is continuing to get ready for K-9 Jake’s arrival and they still need some help. They need to build some agility equipment. They need lumber, hardware, barrels and other items. If you think you can help, give them a call at 662-3248, Ext. 0. They also have a big list of equipment to purchase. Just remember you or someone you love may need to be rescued some day. It will be nice to know that our own Fire-Rescue men will be able to get to you faster, because Jake found you.
She went to the cupboard and the cupboard was bare — Help!
St. Clare Health Clinic’s cupboards still need your help, and don’t forget the baby stuff. They need donations of non-perishable food items, paper goods, including toilet paper, laundry detergent and personal care products like deodorant, shampoo and soap, for the pantry. Drop off your donations to the clinic 1121 S. Indiana Ave. between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Prenatal Assistance Program, located in St. Clare, is in need of diapers, formula, baby items and new or gently used clothing, sizes newborn to 3T. Don’t just be anti-abortion — be right to support life. Your support is needed.
