CROWN POINT — The next stop for 77.43 acres of land to get a change of zoning is the Crown Point City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The land is located on the southwest quadrant of the Interstate 65 and 101st Avenue area and consists of five large parcels of land. It is across the street from the Purdue property that is being developed by Holladay Properties. The property to the west of these parcels is owned by the Root family and is also zoned for business.
The request, present by attorney Jim Wieser, was to change the R-1 residential zoning that has been on the property since it was annexed into the city many years ago.
Wieser told the Plan Commission that the owners of the property were surprised that the zoning was R-1. The best use of the property is B-3, the same as the surrounding property, he said.
