Couple’s love tested in ‘Prelude’

The Valparaiso Theatrical Company will present Craig Lucas’ play “Prelude To A Kiss” Nov. 9-18 at the Memorial Opera House.
Directed by Colleen Zana, the cast includes Mike Lerner, Maggie Foster, Michael “Doc” Kuhn, Eric McCann, Linda Didelot, Craig Kozora, Vicki Cash, Chuck Leverich, Pam Tschilda, Bev Adkins, Justin Turner, Mark McColley, Porter Smith, Madison Koteles and Jaeda Nowacki.
“Prelude To A Kiss” is the
story of a couple who fall in love despite the girl’s pessimistic
outlook. Shortly after their
wedding, a supernatural event tests both their love and their resolve.
A film starring Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan and based on the play was released in 1992.

M&M Productions will hold auditions for its fall mystery at
7 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Center Stage Studio Theatre in Hobart.
The show title will be determined based on the auditions. Two scripts are being considered — “The Woman in Black” or “The Haunting.” Both are ghost stories with some spine-tingling moments. Performances will be in late October.

The Unity Event production
of “Miss Saigon” will be presented for one performance only on
Nov. 2 at Highland High School.
Directed by Andrea Dymond with vocal direction by Lisa
Woodruff Hedin and David Markley, and music direction by Troy Webdell, “Miss Saigon” is a dramatic reworking of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, the team that wrote
“Miss Saigon” is set in late April 1975 in Saigon during the final days and the evacuation
of the American forces and
embassy personnel. An intense love story describes the complex relationship, due to the cultural differences, between the Vietnamese and the Americans encompassing the last dramatic airlift from the roof of the American Embassy.
The Unity Event cast includes Suk Song, J.J. Boylan, Kevin Badten, Peter Sipla, Summar Jonas, Trinidad Snider, Yuka Shimura, Vincent McPherson, Molly Pan, Jeremy Sonkin, John Cardone, Randy Ballesteros, Madolyn Hedin, Kassidy Norman, Chelly Brodsky, Carol Rose, Scot MacDonald, Maria Machura and Sara June Wagner.
