FRIGHT LIGHT LASER
The Second Saturday Family Science Program features a laser light show featuring laser art set to spooky Halloween-themed songs by artists such as Will Smith, Garbage and the Who and the October planetarium show “South Shore Skies and Black Holes: Journey to the Unknown”
Details: 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Challenge Learning Center of Northwest Indiana, 2300 173rd St., Hammond, with individual planetarium shows beginning at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and individual laser shows beginning at 3:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
Cost, $15 per person and includes a mini mission, a laser light show and a planetarium show; those not wishing to participate in the mini mission may purchase tickets to either the laser show or planetarium show at $5 for adults and $3 for children
A package including both shows is $8 for adults and $5 for children

GLOBAL SCREAM FEST
Sponsored by the Porter County Family Counseling Center, this event features food trucks from throughout the region, live music, drawings and more for all ages

STUFF THE BUS
Volunteers will collect donations and help Stuff the Bus with cash and food to fight hunger during this annual fundraiser for the Porter Township Food Pantry
Details: Oct. 12 with pickups at 3 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 756 W. County Road 350S, Hebron; 3:15 p.m. at Boone Grove Middle/Elementary School, 325 W. County Road 550S, Boone Grove; 3:30 p.m. at Boone Grove High School, 260 S. County Road 500W, Valparaiso; 3:45 p.m. at Porter Lakes Elementary School, 208 S. County Road, 725W, Hebron; and Salem United Methodist Church for a Salem Souper Supper from 4-6 p.m. with a competition between local churches for the best soup Cost for the Salem Souper Supper, $5 for free for ages to 12; desserts, $1
Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak, this show features music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and is directed by Stacey Flaster
