Big winners in Northwest Indiana theatre

The Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation’s Awards Gala Fundraiser was held at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium on Oct. 24.
The annual event includes an awards ceremony for the best work on and off stage from member theatres.
The winners are:
Featured Actor in a Play, Tony Balsamo as Docter Zubritsky in “Fools” at Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso.
Featured Actress in a Play, Babara Baker Malangoni as Ana in “The Clean House” at Chicago Street Theatre.
Best Director of a Play, Traci Brandt and Jonni Pera for “The Drawer Boy” at Chicago Street Theatre.
Best Costumes in a Play, JoBeth Cruz for “A Streetcar Named Desire” at Fourth Street Theatre in Chesterton.
Best Lighting Design in a Play, Marcia Burbage for “The Drawer Boy” at Chicago Street Theatre.
Best Set Design in a Play, Tony Serra in “Noises Off” at Dunes Summer Theatre in Michiana Shores.
Viewer’s Choice in a Play; Sound Design by Paul Braun for “Frost/Nixon” at Chicago Street Theatre.
Best Cameo in a Play, Jim Henry as Banjo in “The Man Who Came to Dinner” at Chicago Street Theatre.
Best Principal Actor in a Play, Jim Henry as Angus in “The Drawer Boy” at Chicago Street Theatre.

Best Principal Actor in a Musical, Grant Fitch as Man in Chair in “The Drowsy Chaperone” at Portage Community Theatre and Tony Serra as Leading Player in “Pippin” at Dunes Summer Theatre.
Best Principal Actress in a Musical, Lisa Woodruff as Edith Bouvier Beale — “Little” Edie Beale in “Grey Gardens” Fourth Street Theatre.
Best Musical, “Drowsy Chaperone” at Portage Community Theatre.
Fundraiser
L’Arc en Ciel Theatre Guild will host a fundraising event tonight at Great Oaks in Cedar Lake. The event will feature the talents of Linda Slankard, Leslie Evans, Steve & Shannon Becker, Leon Simon, Lynette Estes, Sarah and Brandon Denton and others.
It is planned as an evening of casual dining and fun with a buffet dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. and music at 7:30 p.m.
Also, LCTG has announced auditions for it winter production of “Oliver! The Musical” on Oct. 30.
Children’s auditions will be at 4 p.m. and adult auditions will begin at 5:30. A second opportunity to audition will be on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m., also at Great Oaks, 13109 Wicker Ave., Cedar Lake.
