Kidworks benefit
Dinner-dance and silent auction fundraiser for Kidworks is being held at Trinity Banquet Hall, 638 Calumet Road, Chesterton. Proceeds benefit the special needs of underinsured or uninsured children in Northwest Indiana. $50 per person, $85 per couple, 983-9675

Magnificent Mile
Lights Festival
The Peanuts Gang and Disney characters kick off the 21st annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival in Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago. The grand finale includes a tree-lighting and a parade at 5:30 p.m. led by grand marshals Mickey and Minnie Mouse down Michigan from Oak to Wacker. The evening concludes at 6:55 p.m. with a fireworks display over the Chicago River..

Skating season
The ice skating rink at Millennium Park opens at noon Nov. 16 at Michigan between Washington and Madison in Chicago. It remains open, weather permitting, through mid-March. Admission is free. Skate rentals are $10. Hours are noon-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; noon-10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday through Dec. 22; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday (beginning Jan. 5); 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
