New on DVD for May 17, 2013

Updated: June 18, 2013 6:55AM

Here is a look at what’s new on DVD this week.

Many of these titles were released on May 14.

‘Cloud Atlas’ ★★★★

(2012, Warner Bros.; R, 2 hours and 52 minutes) One of the most ambitious films ever made. Over a period of centuries, six stories wend their way toward visionary truths. The same actors appear in different roles, playing characters of different races, genders and ages. Some are not even human, but fabricants. The acting and makeup was so effective you’ll often have no idea if you’re looking at Tom Hanks, Halle Berry or Jim Broadbent. Allow your imagination to play. (Roger Ebert)
