MUSIC IN NATURE

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens hosts national tribute bands playing favorite hits during this summer concert series sponsored by HighTower Scannell Wealth Management, Cathy Hodges Memorial Fund, Martin Security Systems and Ricci’s Landscape Management Inc.

July 26: The Neverly Brothers (hits from the 1950s, American rockabilly, rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm and blues pioneers up to the 1964 British Invasion)

Aug. 9: American English (showcases the best of the Beatles’ career from 1963-1970) along with the raffling of a Fender Stratocaster guitar that was used extensively by John Lennon and George Harrison through the recording of the Beatles “Rubber Soul” album and when they played the guitar solo in unison on “Nowhere Man”

Aug. 30: Marrakesh Express (a widely acclaimed Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tribute band) takes listeners back to the 1960s with classic hits like “Southern Cross” and “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes”

Details: All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. with gates at 5:30 p.m. and will take place, rain or shine, at Taltree Arboretum & Gardens, 450 W. County Road 100 N, Valparaiso

HOBART AREA CONCERT BAND

Formerly called the Rusty Pipes Community Concert Band, this group is a 50-piece assembly that plays a pops-style orchestra sound

Details: 7 p.m. July 27 at Indiana Dunes State Park, 1600 N. County Road 25E, Chesterton
Cost, free but gate fee is $5 for Indiana vehicles and $10 for out-of-state vehicles

PORTAGE SUMMER MUSIC IN THE PARK

Portage Parks and Recreation, Portage Chamber of Commerce and Portage Live Entertainment present a concert series featuring all local talent

July 30: Relics (classic 1960s and ’70s rock), Oakwood Grand Hall

Portage Township Schools Elementary Honor Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. following the Summer Music in Park concert

Aug. 6: AcoustiCats (acoustic, blues and classic rock music), Oakwood Grand Hall

Aug. 13: Summer Symphony (string orchestra), Oakwood Grand Hall

Portage Township Schools Elementary Honor Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. following the Summer Music in Park concert

Aug. 20: New Element (Irish, Celtic, folk, rock and bluegrass music), Sycamore Hall

Portage Township Schools Elementary Honor Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. following the Summer Music in Park concert

Aug. 27: Larry Spurlock & The Little Big Band (big band music), Sycamore Hall
