Dr. Wallace: I’ve just read a letter in your column from Sherry whose mother was no longer allowing the girls to have slumber parties once a month because they are “too old for such nonsense.” I’m glad you let this mother know that there is no age limit on slumber parties. I am a senior in a university and still enjoy getting together with my friends once in a while for a good old-fashioned sleepover. It’s a great way to catch up and remember the good old times.
Even my mother still gets together with friends for a “slumber party” once a year. She and her friends head up north to a cabin and go shopping, pop popcorn, trade recipes, watch movies and talk about old boyfriends. Sherry’s mother should be thankful that the girls are content to stay at home instead of going out to parties on the weekends where much worse things could happen.

Gabby: I’ve received an abundance of replies from “older” readers who said they love to attend “slumber” parties, and they hope they never end. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this wonderful social gathering.
