Gary and Terry Heminger of Valparaiso announce the engagement of their daughter, Kellie Nicole Heminger, to Robert James Spenard, son of Annette Johnson and Kenneth Spenard of Joliet, Ill.
The bride-to-be earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Purdue University, both in speech-language pathology. She is a speech-language pathologist at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville.
The prospective bridegroom is an Army veteran who served in Iraq and was honorably discharged as a decorated noncommissioned officer. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Valparaiso University and is a registered nurse in the cardiac IMCU at Methodist Hospital.
They plan a September wedding at Aberdeen in Valparaiso.
