The Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso has announced the casts for three upcoming shows.

“The Graduate” will run April 12-27. The script is based on the screenplay for the 1967 film written by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry.

Directed by Mary Bird and Martin Weisenbacher, the cast includes Dean Perrine, Glenn Silver, Danielle Karczewski, Chuck Gessert, Barbara Malangoni, Megan Lothamer, Lynette Kucharski, Kimberly Meyne, Jeff Schultz, Jim Drader, Patricia Schulz, Rodney Thornton, Mary Jo Nuland and Kirby Thomas.

“A Picasso” will run from May 10-18 and will be the first production in the Edith B. Wood Studio space at the theater.

Directed by Ed Griffith and co-produced with Hammond’s Genesius Guild, this play features actors Maggie Reister-Walters and Larry Hinken.

Set in Paris in 1941, “A Picasso” is the fictional story of Pablo Picasso being summoned from his favorite café by German occupation forces to a storage vault across the city for an interrogation.

His questioner Miss Fischer, a beautiful cultural attaché from Berlin, has been assigned to discover which of the three Picasso paintings recently confiscated by the Nazis from their Jewish owners are real.

The ministry of propaganda has planned an exhibit, and only the great artist himself can attest to their authenticity. At first Picasso agrees to her request, confirming that the three pictures are indeed his own. But when Miss Fischer reveals that the “exhibition” is actually a burning of “degenerate art,” Picasso becomes desperate to save his work and engages in a pressurized negotiation with the equally determined and wily Miss Fischer to hold on to two of his precious “children” while consigning the third to the flames.

The play is described as a cat-and-mouse drama about art, politics, sex and truth, with a twist at its climax.

Arthur Miller’s play “A View from the Bridge” will be directed by Karl Berner and Justin Treasure. The play will run May 24-June 8.

The cast includes John Larrabee, Heather Chaddock, Dona Henry, Timothy Gleason, Josh Eggleston, Jim Henry, Jordan Chaddock, Aram Arden, Jim Drader, Tony Balsamo, Mark McColley and Patricia Schulz.

William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” will be the theater’s summer production with some performances being held outdoors at Central Park Plaza in downtown Valparaiso. The production will run July 12-27.

Directed by Lisa Formosa-Parmigiano, the cast includes Eric Brant, Braden Cleary, Patricia Bird, Peyton Daily, Grant Fitch, Mark Baer and Dan Matern.
