VALPARAISO -- Police arrested one man and are looking for others after finding stolen property at a home south of Valparaiso.

Valparaiso Police officer Ron Chapman came across suspicious activity at about 2:45 a.m. Friday at a storage business in the 300 block of West Street. When he approached to investigate, several people ran into a nearby wooded area and Chapman discovered property was missing from the business.

After identifying a possible suspect later on Friday, Valparaiso detectives and Porter County Sheriff’s Police served a search warrant at property he rents in the 200 block of South Indiana 2, a short distance south of Valparaiso. Although the suspect was not at home, police recovered numerous stolen items, including two personal watercraft and two trailers. One of the trailers had been taken that morning from the storage business on West Street.

At about 10 p.m. Friday, Valparaiso Police arrested Nicholas Sorba, 26, of Hobart, for aiding in a burglary, a class C felony. Police said Sorba has admitted to his involvement.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Scott Millender, 26, who lives at the address where the stolen property was found and is wanted on a warrant for burglary. Police also are attempting to find David Sharp, 32, who is described as a person of interest. Anyone with information on their locations is asked to call Valparaiso police at 462-2135.
