Crown Point police want to talk to boyfriend of woman stabbed to death
CROWN POINT — Police are still waiting for medical clearance to interview the 32-year-old boyfriend of a Crown Point woman stabbed to death Saturday in the couple’s apartment.
Brittany Peters, 26 of Crown Point, died Saturday after a domestic disturbance with her boyfriend escalated into a knife fight between the pair.
Crown Point Police Chief Pete Land said Tuesday investigators have been following up on the case since Saturday, when they were called to the Heritage Court Apartments in response to a domestic disturbance.
During the course of the investigation it was learned both parties had brandished knives during the altercation.
No charges have been filed in the case. Police are working with the prosecutor’s and coroner’s offices in the matter.
Both Peters and the male victim were transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point. Peters was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The male victim was admitted in serious condition.
“The male party survived his surgery and remains hospitalized at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Due to his medical status our investigators are still awaiting clearance to speak with him,” Land said.
