Holcomb leaves party to co-run Coats Senate office
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Republican Party Chairman Eric Holcomb is taking a new job as U.S. Sen. Dan Coats’ state chief of staff.
Coats announced Friday that Holcomb would run his office in Indiana and Dean Hingson would continue as his Washington chief of staff.
Holcomb announced earlier this week he would be leaving the top job at the state party. His announcement came with a round of other of departures from the party this week.
Gov. Mike Pence will get his pick of a successor to run the state party. Holcomb stayed on through the first six months of the new administration after serving as one of former Gov. Mitch Daniels’ top aides at the Statehouse and later the party.
