High school Latin teacher named Indiana’s best
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A high school Latin teacher from Indianapolis is Indiana’s teacher of the year.
State schools superintendent Glenda Ritz presented the award Friday morning to Steven Perkins of North Central High School.
Perkins has been teaching at the high school since 1998. He grew up in New Albany and attended Indiana University.
Ritz praised Perkins for his work improving his students’ world knowledge through the teaching of Latin. He was picked from a pool of 10 finalists from across the state.
