INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The opening of the General Assembly may not happen Monday as planned depending on Mother Nature’s weekend behavior.

Legislative leaders are expected to announce Sunday afternoon their plans for Monday’s scheduled opening. Indianapolis could receive up to a foot of snow by Sunday night, coming on the heels of a half-foot of snow that fell earlier this week. The weekend storm is forecast to usher subzero temperatures across the state.

Gov. Mike Pence is delaying the opening of state government offices next week amid forecasts of a major weekend snowstorm.

Pence announced Friday that state offices would open at 10 a.m. Monday.
