Notre Dame has lost another starting defensive lineman to the NFL.

Defensive end Stephon Tuitt
confirmed an SI.com report that he will enter the NFL draft in a tweet issued Sunday. He follows nose tackle Louis Nix III, who last month decided to forgo his final season of eligibility and turn pro.

Tuitt, a projected first- or
second-round pick, had 62 tackles and 7½ sacks in 2013. He had 21½ sacks in three seasons with the Irish, including 12 in 2012.

‘‘Thanks for a wonderful three years at the best University on earth,’’ Tuitt wrote on Twitter. ‘‘I will forever be IRISH.’’
