An early evening thunderstorm Sunday knocked power out to nearly 22,000 Northern Indiana Public Service Co. customers.

More than 5,300 Portage residents lost power, according to NIPSCO’s website.

The storm flooded streets and felled trees, including one near Main Street in Hobart.

In Munster, Target employees took shelter after a tornado warning was issued.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Lake, Porter, Jasper and Newton counties until 1:30 a.m. Monday.

A tornado was reported in Collegeville, the home of St. Joseph College.
