TERRE HAUTE (AP) — Two murals depicting the lives of St. Mother Theodore Guerin and Francis Vigo have been installed inside the first-floor rotunda of the Vigo County Courthouse.
The oil paintings created by Indiana artist Bill Wolfe were installed Thursday.
One mural shows Guerin as an infant, a girl walking along the coast of her native France and as an adult. Guerin is the eighth U.S. saint and the only Hoosier to achieve that status.
The other mural depicts Vigo, who was born in what is now northern Italy and later helped fund George Rogers Clark’s recapture of Vincennes from the British during the Revolutionary War.
The paintings are framed with wood associated with Indiana.
Wolfe still plans two additional murals.
