INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Sen. Richard Bray of Martinsville says he won’t see re-election to his seat this year and will retire after 38 years as a member of the Indiana General Assembly.
Bray was first elected to the Indiana House in 1974, serving there for 18 years before being elected to the Senate in 1992.
Bray is now chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was the Morgan County prosecutor before joining the Legislature.
He represents a heavily Republican district that includes parts of Morgan, Johnson, Monroe, Owen, Putnam and Clay counties in central Indiana. He won re-election four years ago with 65 percent of the vote.
