Teen chases, extinguishes burning man

WEBSTER (AP) — A 14-year-old eastern Indiana boy who watched a neighbor run in flames from a burning mobile home says he extinguished the man’s clothing after dashing barefoot across a creek and up a hill to reach him.

Devin Limmer said he used muddy water Tuesday to extinguish Brad Moore’s burning clothing. He also says he had to physically restrain the 53-year-old Moore because he was trying to go back inside his burning mobile home in the town of Webster about 70 miles east of Indianapolis.

Moore was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Hospital spokeswoman Brittany Schaefer said Thursday she could not disclose Moore’s condition.

Deputy Chief Pete McDaniel of the Richmond Fire Department says a kerosene heater may have started the fire.
