Gov. Mitch Daniels’ moment in the national spotlight tonight will be followed by an ad slamming his flip-flop on right-to-work legislation now before the General Assembly.
After Daniels gives the Republican response to President Obama’s 8 p.m. State of the Union address, the Indiana AFL-CIO-sponsored ad will run on all state networks and on CNN and MSNBC.
Called “What” the 30-second ad focuses on 2006 remarks by Daniels at a Teamsters union event.
In the video, Daniels says: “I have said over and over, I’ll say it again tonight. I’m a supporter of the labor laws we have in the state of Indiana. I’m not interested in changing any of them. Not the prevailing wage and certainly not a right-to-work law.”
Daniels has said he changed his view on right-to-work after the recession weakened Indiana’s economy and because he believes Indiana has lost job opportunities.
