Updated: March 1, 2012 8:43AM

KOKOMO, Ind. — Kokomo police say a 23-year-old man was in critical condition and a 17-year-old youth in custody after the fifth shooting in five days to rattle the city.

Police said 23-year-old Taurean Jones of Kokomo underwent surgery at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after being found with a gunshot wound to his head about 5 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said they did not believe the latest shooting was related to four that occurred Wednesday night and Thursday in Kokomo that left two people dead and two others injured. A 36-year-old man was expected to be arraigned Tuesday on two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in those shootings. Each of the victims had been shot in the head.
