A Lake County magistrate did not make a semifinalist list to join the Indiana Supreme Court, according to a release.
Michael Pagano, 41, had applied to replace Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard, who is retiring in March, and interviewed for the position Wednesday before the Judicial Nominating Commission.
The commission asked him about his relatively young age, but Pagano remarked that Shepard was 38 when he became a justice with the Supreme Court.
The commission released a list of seven candidates it had named as semifinalists. Pagano was not on the list. All of the semifinalists are from Marion County, except for one from Columbus and one from Floyd County.
