Tow truck takes car with child inside

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis mother and a tow truck driver have been arrested after a car was towed with a child inside.

Police say Robyn Hardy parked in the fire lane of a Family Dollar on the west side of the city Thursday night while her son slept in the back seat. Employees say Hardy was in the store 15 minutes before coming outside to find her car and child missing. It was about 30 degrees outside at the time. Police say truck driver Jason Gosset didn’t check the car’s back seat before pulling away.

Gosset told WRTV-TV he was sorry for the misunderstanding. Hardy could not be reached for comment because her phone was disconnected.

Gosset was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness. Hardy faces preliminary charges of child neglect.
