GARY — A 22-year-old Gary man could be charged with killing his mother’s boyfriend at their home Sunday.
The victim, Brian Lunn, 27, of 1160 Pennsylvania St., was shot several times and pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. inside 317 E. 43rd Ave., a news release from the Lake County coroner states.
Lunn had apparently been arguing with his girlfriend and started hitting her, police said.
Police at the scene noted the woman did have marks on her face from the incident.
Her son intervened and shot Lunn, who was lying on the floor unresponsive when officers arrived.
The shooter has not been questioned or arrested, but told police he would surrender to them.
Detective Lorenzo Davis presented evidence in the case to Lake County deputy prosecutors Monday, who said they were reviewing the case and no decision had been made.
The matter may be presented to a grand jury for consideration, sources said.
Anyone with additional information about the homicide can call Davis at 881-4738.
Lunn is the 18th homicide of the year in Gary. By this date in 2011, the city had recorded 22 homicides.
