Home detention for man who strapped kids on car

FORT WAYNE (AP) — A northeastern Indiana man has been sentenced to 18 months on home detention for driving drunk with his three young children and another girl strapped to the hood of his car.

The Journal Gazette reports Allen Superior Judge Wendy Davis sentenced 29-year-old Aaron Stefanski of Fort Wayne on Friday to four years in prison, but suspended 2.5 years of that sentence. She allowed him to serve the rest of his sentence on home detention so he could keep his two jobs and continue his treatment for alcohol addiction.

He earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of neglect of a dependent and one count of drunken driving. Stefanski told Davis he regretted his actions every minute of every day since his arrest.
