Chicago’s run of 44 straight days over 80 degrees comes to an end

Thursday’s 75-degree high temperature snapped a run of 80-plus days that have baked Chicago this summer.
Up until Thursday, there had been 44 consecutive days that hit 80 degrees or hotter, according to the National Weather Service.
That fell just short of a record. The longest streak of 80-degree days in Chicago was in 2010, when we had 46 straight days.
And the mild temperature isn’t expected to be a one-day blip.
Friday’s high is expected to hover around 70. And temps are predicted to remain in the 70s Saturday and Sunday. The 80-degree weather should return around Tuesday or Wednesday next week, according to the National Weather Service.
