An Orland Park woman suffered a minor injury after a road rage incident ended with a man firing a gun at her car on Interstate 80/94 in Northwest Indiana.
Indiana State Police said the 22-year-old woman was driving westbound on the expressway just west of Grant Street at 9:03 p.m. Thursday when a dark-colored pickup driven by a man drove up behind her and tailgated her for about a mile. The truck then passed the woman on the right and tried to force the woman’s 2004 Honda Civic into a concrete barrier.
The woman was able to avoid his truck, but the man then tried to force her to the other side of the road.
The man then waved a silver handgun in the air, the woman heard what she thought was a gunshot and saw a hole in her passenger door. Police later recovered a small-caliber bullet from her car.
The man immediately drove across all lanes of westbound traffic and eventually exited off Cline Avenue. He is described as a white man with white hair. He was wearing a ball cap.
The woman wasn’t injured by the bullet, but by a piece of plastic blown off the door by it. She declined medical treatment at the scene.
