MUNCIE, Ind. — Animal control workers have removed about 60 dogs from a dog rescue facility in Muncie after officials say they received complaints about the operation.
The dogs of various breeds were taken Thursday from Adopt A Lab under a voluntary surrender agreement. City animal shelter director Phil Peckinpaugh tells The Star Press that the owners of the facility had good intentions but became overwhelmed.
In exchange for surrendering the animals, the city assured the owners that they wouldn’t be prosecuted.
Delaware County health administrator Joshua Williams says conditions were bad inside the former single-family home and that it had too many animals.
