INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A memorial service for two medics who died after their ambulance collided with a car in downtown Indianapolis included heartfelt remembrances by the men’s relatives and co-workers.
Cody Medley, 22, of Indianapolis and Tim McCormick, 24, of Greenwood were fatally injured in early Saturday’s crash.
The head of Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services said at Wednesday’s memorial that he’s struggled to find meaning in their deaths. But Dr. Charles Miramonti said he hopes their service would inspire others to follow their example.
Medley’s mother, Stacy Weldishofer, told the gathering her son was a practical joker and avid outdoorsman who liked to dance but wasn’t very good at it.
Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and other officials attended the memorial on Butler University’s campus.
