Home fire kills Hobart man

Updated: June 28, 2013 6:42AM

A 31-year-old Hobart man was killed when a fire broke out in his home early Sunday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., firefighters were called to a home in the 100 block of East Rand Street, where they found Eric Considine unresponsive in the kitchen.

Hobart Police Detective Jeremy Ogden said paramedics tried to revive Considine at the scene, then transported him to St. Mary Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m.

Ogden said there was no smoke detector in the home. The State Fire Marshal’s office was on the scene for a preliminary investigation on Sunday, Ogden said, but it has not yet determined the cause of the fire.
