PLAINFIELD (AP) — Police say a body found inside a car in a retention pond fits the description of a 27-year-old man who has been missing for two years.
Police said at a news conference Friday that they haven’t confirmed whether the body is that of Morgan Johnson, who was last seen in May 2011 leaving his motel room in Plainfield. The Indianapolis Star reports that confirmation could come during an autopsy planned for Saturday.
The car found about 8 a.m. Friday also matches the description of the Pontiac Grand Am Johnson was driving. Police say it was about eight feet below the surface and clearly had been there a long time.
Authorities say they’ve contacted Johnson’s family.
