HOBART, Ind. — Two people were injured in a fiery, three-truck crash early Tuesday that has closed northbound Interstate 65 near Hobart in Northwest Indiana.
The three semis crashed while northbound on Interstate 65 near Ridge Road about 3:30 a.m., Indiana State Police said. Two drivers were taken to an area hospital, but details about their injuries and conditions was not immediately available.
About an hour and a half later, while fire crews were still clearing the crash, one of the trucks burst in to flames, police said. A second truck caught fire awhile later.
Some traffic was getting past the crash scene using a single lane of traffic as of 8 a.m. All lanes on the interstate were blocked for about four hours. It wasn’t clear how long the lane closures would be in place.
Indiana State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
