Visitation for Annette Orellana, the Crete woman who died after a two-vehicle accident over the weekend, will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hills Funeral Home, 10201 S. Roberts Road, Palos Hills.
Orellana, 43, died early Sunday at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn from multiple injuries she suffered when her car was rear-ended early Saturday, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The accident took place near St. John, Ind., about two miles from her home, police said. Her car was hit by a car driven by a 35-year-old man from Dyer, Ind., police said. Police said Monday they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
Lake County (Ind.) Sheriff’s spokesman Rob Arnold said Wednesday the accident still is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
In an e-mail, Brian Kirk, who said he knew Orellana for nine years, called her “a gentle, kind-hearted soul.”
“She’s always been a fighter. She had just overcome thyroid cancer in the last few years. And that didn’t stop her from doing the things she loved most, spending time with those she cared about, mostly her kids. They were her world. I’m deeply saddened that she was taken way too soon,” Kirk wrote.
