A Gary man was sentenced to three years and ordered to perform 450 hours of community service for a 2011 robbery.
Lucas Jerrold Michael Porter, 20, admitted he and two other men robbed Anthony Durr on Sept. 20, 2011 in the 4800 block of East 10th Avenue, Gary.
Porter drove up to Durr and invited him inside his car. When he got in, Porter got into the back seat and grabbed Durr forcefully around the neck while another man held a gun to his side and demanded the man’s valuables. The man with the gun took money from Durr, who managed to get out of the car. Porter and the two other men drove away.
The plea agreement calls for Porter to serve six months in jail, followed by 30 months on probation. He also paid $95 in restitution to the victim.
Porter had faced six to 20 years on the original robbery charge, which was dismissed along with a battery charge.
