Gary snow zone parking restrictions in place

GARY — City officials said snow plows will be out in full force Friday and residents should follow posted snow zone parking guidelines. A winter storm advisory has been issued for Northwest Indiana beginning mid-morning and lasting into Saturday.
There is no parking on the main arteries listed below when two inches or more of snow is present. Violators will be towed.
Main arteries: 11th, 15th, 19th, 21st, 25th, 35th, 41st, 45th, 49th avenues; Colfax, Burr, Virginia, Georgia, Pierce, Delaware, Lake, Montgomery streets; Clark Road, King Drive, Ridge Road, Oak Avenue, Grand Boulevard, Indian Boundary and County Line Road.
Also, the city has opened warming shelters for residents who need assistance:
Brunswick Pavilion, 775 Clark Road, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Friday; Calumet Township multi-purpose center, 1900 W. 41st Ave., 24 hours; Hudson Campbell Fitness Center, 455 Mass. St., 7 a.m. -7 p.m., Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday; Public Safety Facility, 555 Polk St., as needed; Roosevelt Pavilion, 21st & Harrison, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Residents may call the Public Safety Facility after hours at 881-1260 with weather-related emergencies.
